Posting content on social media at the best time will help you get more traffic, engagement, and followers. But the question is, when is that best time?
In an article, CoSchedule discussed the results of its compiled research on the best times to post on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google+.
The best times to post on Facebook for engagement are 12-1pm on weekends and 1-4pm on Thursdays and Fridays. In general, the best times to post to increase clicks and shares are 1pm, 3pm, and 9am. Meanwhile, the worst times are between 8pm and 8am on weekends.
The best times to tweet are 12-3pm and 5pm on weekdays. As an experiment, you can tweet between these time intervals: 2-3am, 6-7am, and 9-10pm. To increase retweets and clicks, the best times to tweet are 5-6pm, 12pm, and 3pm. Meanwhile, the worst times are between 8pm and 9am. Also, take note that B2B commerce performs better on weekdays (especially during business hours) while B2C on weekends.
The optimal times to post on LinkedIn are 7:30-8:30am, 12pm, and 5-6pm on Tuesdays to Thursdays, as well as 10-11am on Tuesdays. Though LinkedIn is a platform for professionals, as the data suggests, the best times to post on the platform are clearly not during business hours. On the other hand, the worst times are between 10pm and 6am.
On Instagram, it is best to share content on Mondays and Thursdays at any time other than 3-4pm. When it comes to videos, posting should be at 9pm-8am any day (9pm to get the most number of interactions).
The optimal times for reaching Pinterest users are 8-11pm on Saturdays and 3pm at Fridays. Generally, the awesome times to pin are 8-11pm (peak at 9pm), 2-4am and 2-4pm. On the other hand, the not-so-awesome times to pin are 5-7pm and 1-7am.
On Google+, it is best to share content on weekdays at 9-11am, with 9am on Wednesdays as the peak time. You can also consider posting at 12-1pm. Conversely, it is worst to post on the platform on early mornings and evenings (after 6pm and before 7am).
Overall, the best times to post on social media vary across different platforms. Most platforms work best for businesses at noontime and/or afternoon. In contrast, the worst times to share content on most social platforms are during overnight hours.
